Join us for a no-drop social ride around the beautiful rolling gravel roads and trails of the Tiger Tracks Gravel course. TTG Course Designer and Jalbarragup local Vanessa Johnson will lead the ride.

The Two Tigers route is ~50km, with options to shorten or extend. Final route options will be decided based on the experience level of the group. Pace expected to be 15-20km/hour.

Two Tigers Route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3307246157307934966

Please arrive at 7.15am for 7.30am roll-out from the Darradup Volunteer Bushfire Brigade Shed on Johnston Rd, Jalbarragup.

The ride will be in remote country, so be prepared. Bring:

  • mobile with Telstra network coverage or a satellite communications device (e.g. Garmin Inreach)

  • route loaded to bike computer/phone (before arriving - terrible network coverage around Nannup)

  • sufficient hydration & nutrition for the ride (3-4 hours)

  • sunscreen & chamois cream

  • all spares

  • appropriate clothing for predicted weather

  • any medications you may require

All riders must wear an Australian Standards Approved (or international equivalent) helmet.

Bikes should be suitable for off-road terrain (e.g. mountain bike or gravel bike fitted with knobbly tyres) and have working brakes. If you need to hire a bike please contact Three Tanks Cycling in Nannup in advance.

SAFETY

It is recommended that you load these apps to your phone - they both work without network coverage.

  • St John First Responder App - to assist with emergency service response

  • Experience Nannup App - provides accurate map positioning in case you find yourself off-course (better than Google Maps or Strava). Select Mountain & Road Biking and toggle on Locate to find your position.

New to gravel? Check out the 4F Gravel Guide here: https://www.4fiveplus.org/resources

There will be coffee afterwards at the Fire Shed.

4F Gravel Training Ride

Join 4F on female-friendly training rides as we prepare for a great season of gravel racing. This time we are taking on the Heritage Trail & Firewood Loop.

The ride will suit intermediate and advanced riders, with speed expected >20km/h (your gravel speed is usually 10km/h slower than your road speed). Faster riders are encouraged to ride repeats to keep moving and allow the back markers to regroup.

Rides will be ~4 hours, usually with a loop option for those wanting to ride only 2 hours. Routes will be posted in the event Discussion once finalised.

If you are not an AusCycling member you will need to register via Ride Nation for insurance purposes. While non-members are welcome, it is expected that you will join 4F if you are a repeat attendee to support the work of our volunteers.

What you need:
- gravel bike, or similar
- Australian Standards approved helmet
- mobile with Telstra network coverage or a satellite communications device (e.g. Garmin InReach) - there are many network blackspots on our routes.
- all spares (tube, puncture repair kit, CO2)
- hydration and nutrition
- route map
- clothing appropriate for the weather
- any medication you might require

Tiger Tracks Gravel 2024

A weekend festival of grass roots gravel based at Jalbarragup (near Nannup), with something for everyone, and an ideal lead-in event for SeVen

4Five+ Athlete Collective have designed this event with female riders in mind. We want to send a clear message that there is space for female riders on the start line. Our dream is to see women and girls make up half the field, because we are #halftheworld. With the field (race + rides) capped at 150 each day, competition for a spot will be hot!

The Cycling

Racing

Tiger Tracks Gravel weekend has racing on both Saturday and Sunday. The main event is the Uber Tiger, which combines the Big Tiger and Tiger TT.

  • Saturday: Little Tiger and Big Tiger - Gravel road races

  • Sunday: Tiger TT - Gravel individual time trial 18km

Uber Tiger winners will have the fastest combined ITT & Big Tiger average speed over the two days. Selected Masters, Junior, and Para-Cyclist categories will be available (details to follow).

Entry into individual events (rather than both days) will be possible, with the winners recognised at presentations.

In 2024 we hope to offer a Local Legend prize - if you live in the Shire of Nannup this one is for you!

Ride and Learn

For those who want a more leisurely experience, there are social participation rides on Saturday and Sunday that will set out after the races depart. These will be supported by experienced gravel riders. There are also Basic Bike Mechanics and Gravel Riding Skills sessions planned. Registration essential.

Go to the main Tiger Tracks Gravel page for all the details
