A weekend festival of gravel based at Jalbarragup (near Nannup), with something for everyone, and an ideal lead-in event for SeVen.
4Five+ Athlete Collective have designed this event with female riders in mind. We want to send a clear message that there is space for female riders on the start line, and we will open entries to female riders first. Our dream is to see women and girls make up half the field, because we are #halftheworld. With the field (race + rides) capped at 150 each day, competition for a spot will be hot!
The WA State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is a major supporter of Tiger Tracks Gravel event. Sport and recreation creates vibrant, inclusive and connected WA communities.
We thank DLGSC for supporting Tiger Tracks Gravel through an Active Regional Communities Initiative Grant.
The Cycling
Racing
Tiger Tracks Gravel race is two stages over two days:
Saturday: Tiger TT - Gravel individual time trial 18km
Sunday: Little Tiger OR Big Tiger - Gravel races 40/79km
Tiger Tracks winners will have the fastest combined ITT & race times over the two days. Pairs times will be calculated on the sum of the pair’s Saturday ITT times, and the second rider’s Sunday race time. There will be categories for solo women and men, female pairs, and mixed pairs. There will also be recognitions for female riders 45+, male riders 55+, Junior U17 (Little Tiger only), Junior U15 (TT only), and Para-Cyclist categories.
Entry into individual events (rather than both days) will be possible, with the winners recognised at presentations.
Riding
For those who want a more leisurely experience, there are social participation rides on Saturday and Sunday that will set out after the races depart. These will be supported by experienced gravel riders.
Learning
Saturday morning there will be a Basic Bike Mechanics session, and a Gravel Riding Skills session. Bookings essential.
The course
The course terrain is rolling, rather than hilly, and is generally on the lower end of the technical spectrum. The routes follow Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attraction roads and tracks, passing through the Wiltshire-Butler National Park and McCorkhill State Forest. The routes are lined by native jarrah, marri and banksia woodland, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for emus and kangaroos! Depending on the weather and when the roads last saw the Shire grader, they could be smooth, corrugated, sandy, or muddy - but they will definitely be 100% gravel.

The Community
The Event Hub is at the Darradup Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade Shed in Jalbarragup, 20km from Nannup. This is a small remote rural community: the facilities will be basic, but the welcome will be warm. There will be water, ice and food available. The Fire Brigade will be directing the parking and running a gourmet sausage sizzle, so be sure to bring your cash to support these community fundraising efforts.
Be aware! There is only Telstra network coverage in the area.
Suggested travel routes and parking directions are included in the Rider Guide.
The Technical Stuff
There will be more information coming in the Rider Guide, but here are some headlines to get you started.
License Requirements
An AusCycling “Race – All Discipline” or “Race – Off Road” membership/license is required for riders to be eligible to participate in the races. Information here: www.auscycling.org.au/membership/race-all-discipline
An AusCycling “Lifestyle” membership is required for riders to participate in the Rides and Skills Sessions. Information here: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/lifestyle. A “Race – All Discipline” or “Race – Off Road” membership/licenses can also be used.

Bikes
There is no restriction on the type of bike that can be used. Bikes must have two working brakes. TT bars not permitted. Riders are expected to complete the race with the same frame, forks and wheels as at the start. Given the course terrain, we strongly recommend a minimum tyre width of 33mm, with sufficient grip to handle loose gravel.
eBikes are permitted in the participation rides.
